A conventional Nikon 522 Total Station and weighted nylon tape was used to gather cross section data on the irrigation pond for the Circling Raven Golf Course in Worley, Idaho. The pond measures approximately 1300' long by a variable width of 100 to 340'. Reference points were set at 95 foot intervals along the length of, and on each side of, the irrigation pond. A rope, anchored by a post on each side of the pond, was secured and tightened with a come-along tool. By ferrying the boat along the secured rope, it enabled the crew to hold the boat in position while a measurement was made from the water surface to the bottom of the pond with the weighted tape. The Total Station was then used to horizontally locate that measurement position. |
