Hell's Canyon, 2007, 2008, 2009 - October, 2009
Client: Idaho Power Company
Location: Hell's Canyon National Recreation Area, ID, OR, WA

Glahe & Associates Inc performed large scale topographic surveys for the Idaho Power Company in conjunction with ongoing environmental impact studies being carried out by the central Idaho power utility. Glahe deployed terrestrial based, time of flight Laser Scanners and reflectorless Total Stations in addition to a high resolution panoramic digital image capture unit in order to generate ultra accurate true color topographic data sets for Idaho Power. In addition to the topographic information the photographic information will be utilized in substrate studies being conducted by Idaho Power Geomorphologists.

Boise Paper Volume Calculations - November 2009
Client: Boise White Paper
Location: Wallula, Washington

Glahe & Associates quickly generated volume calculations on three large wood chip piles for Boise Paper Co. The large piles, some over 20m in height were captured using Terrestrial LiDAR over the course of a working day. Data sets were quickly assembled and analysed for area, hieght and volume information was submitted to the customer.

Rattlsnake to Garrison I-90 Crossings - May 2009
Client: Bonneville Power Administration
Location: Missoula, Montana

Glahe and Associates was contracted to produce as built data sets of Bonneville Power conductor crossings over the I-90 corridor in three key locations. A 3-D Laser scanner was deployed to collect very precise and complete existing conditions information at the crossings. This methodology saved considerable field time and afforded the operators a safe data collection location away from high speed traffic patterns at the sites. 3-D laser scanning allowed for an expedited and safe work environment.

McNary to Franklin#2 Tap - May 2007- ongoing
Client: Bonneville Power Administration
Location: Kennewick, Washington

Glahe & Associates Inc utilized RTK GPS and conventional total stations to stake multiple proposed routes for a large scale fiber optic network on behalf of the Bonneville Power Administration. Section breakdown and monument recovery were achieved via our Blue Tooth ready Trimble R-6 GPS while existing power line structures where documented via reflectorless total station. Potential fiber optic network routes were staked between the McNary to Franklin #2 line and a wind turbine installation near Kennewick Washington.

Circling Raven Golf Course - Irrigation Pond Volume - March, 2009
Client: Coeur D'Alene Tribe / Mithun
Location: Circling Raven Golf Course - Worley, Idaho

A conventional Nikon 522 Total Station and weighted nylon tape was used to gather cross section data on the irrigation pond for the Circling Raven Golf Course in Worley, Idaho.  The pond measures approximately 1300' long by a variable width of 100 to 340'.  Reference points were set at 95 foot intervals along the length of, and on each side of, the irrigation pond.  A rope, anchored by a post on each side of the pond, was secured and tightened with a come-along tool.  By ferrying the boat along the secured rope, it enabled the crew to  hold the boat in position while a measurement was made from the water surface to the bottom of the pond with the weighted tape.  The Total Station was then used to horizontally locate that measurement position.

Saab Commercial - June, 2008
Client: Moving Pixels LLC
Location: Glacier National Park, USA

Terrestrial LiDAR was deployed to aid in the creation of virtual environments at Glacier National Park. A combination of LiDAR and high resolution digital photography were used to create topographic and photographic information at specific sites in the park which will be rendered electronically to produce virtual environments. Computer modelers will then be able to put any vehicle they wish into the environment and thusly reduce overall production costs of this and future commercials. This data was collected in conjunction with live action video production at the sites. The data will be merged seamlessly with live action photography for eventual use in television commercials, corporate web sites, and sales driven virtual walk around environments.

North Idaho Medical Center - January, 2008
Client: Dibenedetto
Location: Ponderay, Idaho

Property boundaries, topography and as built information were collected using conventional survey methods and Terrestrial Laser Scanning. Additional buildings are to be added to the property in proximty to an existing medical center. Topographic information is being used to aid in the design of the new structures. Additional design and construction issues are being addressed via the as built information from the existing structures included in the data set.

USDA Marshall Lake - Dec. 2007 - Jan. 2008
Client: United States Forest Service
Location: Pend O'Reille County, WA

This project required the location and measurement of several section corners in order to re-establish the section line and reset the center quarter corner and east quarter corner of that section.  We used a combination of Trimble GPS Receivers and conventional survey methods to complete this project.  After the data was gathered and processed with Trimble Geomatics Office software, the new section corners were calculated and set.

City of Sandpoint, Water Treatment Plant - April, 2008
Client: City of sandpoint, CH2M Hill
Location: Lake Pend Orielle, Sandpoint, Idaho

Glahe & Associates Inc was contracted to conduct a high resolution topographic survey of the City of Sandpoint's auxiliary water treatment plant on the shores of Lake Pend Orielle. The topographic and as built survey was conducted to aid in future design procedures associated with a planned expansion of the facility. Terrestrial based LiDAR and conventional survey equipment was deployed at the site in order to expedite generation of a base map and to keep overall cost at a minimum.

Coeur D' Alene Casino - 2008-2009
Client: Coeur D' Alene Tribe / Mithun
Location: Coeur D' Alene Casino, Worley Idaho

A combination of technology was used to document the as constructed conditions of the Coeur D’Alene Tribal Casino and the surrounding natural topography. This data is intended to be used as a basis for design in future expansion efforts contracted by the Coeur D’Alene Tribe. Glahe & Associates used a combination of Aerial Photogrammetry, Terrestrial LiDAR, RTK & static GPS, and conventional Theodolite technologies to record the natural topography and as constructed conditions present at the site. The use of these technologies greatly reduced over all field deployment times while increasing the volume and quality of spatial information at the site. In addition to standard mapping deliverables TruView visualization deliverables have been generated to aid in the design process.

Client: SilverWing at Sandpoint, L.L.C.
Location: Sandpoint, Idaho

About SilverWing at Sandpoint:

SilverWing at Sandpoint is a unique “Fly-In Residential Community” located on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille in majestic Sandpoint, Idaho. The development sits on the very edge of town, only a 10 minute drive from the Inland Northwest’s largest ski resort, Schweitzer Mountain.

SilverWing at Sandpoint will be comprised of residential airplane hangars offering freestanding units with aircraft storage area on the ground floor and spacious living quarters on the second level. Unlike most airport properties, SilverWing at Sandpoint offers its residents direct ownership of their own land parcel immediately adjacent to a county-run airport.

The hangar-homes, 44 in all, will be incorporated into a heavily landscaped residential environment, situated to capture the stunning views of the surrounding Selkirk Mountains. Each unit has been designed to blend seamlessly with the rustic yet serene natural environment that sets the project apart from other airparks across the country.
